Rajang River Run: Improving Vocabulary Acquisition Among Young Learners through Gamified Storytelling

Due to its significance and prominence in Malaysian culture, English is taught learned as a second language. Along with transforming the education system towards better, innovative teaching approaches are necessary assist learners learning their language schools. In this study, flash card game was designed developed encourage primary school learn vocabulary improve reading skills. It inspired by culture lifestyle of people Sarawak, it named Rajang River Run. The use flashcard games game-based storytelling approach acquire new vocabulary, construct engaging sentences, increase students' motivation examined study. This study conducted at national government-funded public Putrajaya, Malaysia, involving 15 Primary one students that were used target participants research. design thinking employed develop game, which acts guide scaffold creativity collaboration. implemented an observation checklist derived from Revised Conceptual Model Academic Success for data collection. Findings demonstrated through Run could boost pupils' capacity desire words. implication suggested gamified learning, such narrative, increased players' play game. participants' memory retention attentiveness have improved due supportive setting.
